Advanced Placement

The Advanced Placement program is sponsored by College Board, a non-profit organization dedicated to preparing, inspiring, and connecting students to college.  AP course curricula and exams are written by College Board and representative of freshman level college course knowledge and potentially allow them to earn college credit or placement in a higher level course at their attending college.

Heritage will offer 21 AP courses during the 2023-2024 school year.   The philosophy of Advanced Placement at Heritage is open access to students who want to take an AP course.  Students taking an AP course must have a signed AP Agreement on file with the AP Coordinator.  This agreement recognizes the expectations of the Heritage Advanced Placement program in which a student participates in summer work prior to the school year, course activities throughout the year, and the culminating exam in May.

Heritage has been selected by the College Board as one of the few schools in Colorado to incorporate the AP Capstone Diploma Program. This program is built on the foundation of two AP courses -- AP Seminar and AP Research -- and is designed to complement and enhance the in-depth, discipline-specific study experienced in other AP courses. It cultivates curious, independent and collaborative scholars and prepares them to make logical and evidence-based decisions. Click here for more information about the AP Capstone Diploma Program.

It is important that students and their parents review the AP Handbook, Agreement and Reality Check, and the AP Exam schedule when making decisions about participating in Advanced Placement courses at Heritage High School.  We want our students to find challenge and success in their AP courses.
