How can I contact someone at Heritage?
The main office number is 303-347-7600. This will get you the receptionist who can answer your question or connect you with someone who can. You can also call teachers or staff members directly by using their departmental numbers or voice mail numbers.  To get a listing of these numbers, go to the Staff Directory page. You can also send any staff member an email by using the standard convention: first initial last name @ lps.k12.co.us (i.e. teacher[at]lps.k12.co[dot]us).

Students are encouraged to meet with their teachers during unscheduled periods. Teacher offices are located in centralized locations on each floor, with math, science and world languages sharing office space on the third floor; language arts and social studies on the second in addition to theatre, band and choir; and business, technology, consumer family, art and special education on the first.

What school supplies are needed?
School supply lists are not provided at Heritage over the summer months. If teachers require specific supplies for their classes, they will inform students during the first week of classes. Suggestions for general supplies to start the year include spiral notebooks with pockets, #2 pencils, and pens.

What should students do if they have a problem with their schedule?
When schedules are posted on Infinite Campus for the upcoming semester, students must submit an electronic schedule correction form if there are errors on their schedules. The form is available on the School Forms page of the Heritage website only during the schedule correction window. Corrections will only be made for level-placement or scheduling errors. Counselors may not be available to meet with students individually concerning their schedules.

What should students do during their unscheduled periods?
Students are encouraged to spend unscheduled time in a productive manner meaning students are encouraged to meet with teachers, do homework, work with classmates or take care of other academic matters such as meeting with counselors, getting testing information or meeting with college representatives. Students can also go to the Student Center or relax around campus within departmental resource centers, in the library or outside on campus grounds.

Why do students need to have their student IDs with them at all times?
Students are asked to have their IDs with them for security reasons and for easy identification. Additionally, students need their student IDs to check out materials in the library and to use library computers. Students also need to show their student IDs in order to purchase away game tickets and to be allowed into HHS sporting events (provided they have purchased an activity ticket).

Where can I find directions to athletic events?
You can access a map of our league locations by going to the Directions and Maps link on the Home page. You can also go to http://www.chsaa.org and selecting the Directions to High Schools link to order to get written directions to all high schools in the state.

What is your schedule like?
Advisory/Enrichment meets on Mondays, Tuesday, Thursdays and Fridays between 2nd and 3rd Period. Thus, we have a M/T/R/F schedule and a W (late start/no Advisory) schedule.

What is the schedule change process?
The Master Schedule is driven by the courses students request during the registration process. The school strives to balance class sizes as best it can through the registration process and thus, students may not get the elective course they desire, however any course offered in the HHS curriculum will teach a student something new. Courses and number of sections are also determined based on student requests; therefore, schedule changes are kept to a minimum.  Students are encouraged to make their schedule choices a top priority rather than basing their study schedule around outside interests or work.

In order to begin the schedule change process, a student must go to the HHS website and complete a schedule change form online. This must be submitted within the first week of each semester.  Students may not begin a new course after the first week of the semester. Students may drop a class within the first 10 school days of the semester with no penalty. After 10 days, students will receive a withdraw/fail. Withdraw/fail grades will be calculated in the GPA and remain on the transcript.  Schedule changes will be made based on academic need and not as a matter of convenience.

A schedule change will be allowed for legitimate academic reasons such as:

  • Senior needs a class for graduation
  • Student needs to meet minimum hour requirements
  • Student has been placed in the wrong level of class
  • Student fails to meet prerequisites of a class
  • Student has been scheduled into two classes during the same period

Students must attend the classes as they are scheduled regardless of any error. Students who are scheduled into two classes during the same period should attend the core class or the class that meets their graduation requirements until the corrections are made.  Corrections will appear on Infinite Campus as they are completed. Students are responsible for checking their schedules for changes.
