Welcome to our newest Goddard Vikings!!

We are so excited to get to meet you and get to know you throughout the year. At GMS, one of the highest values we hold is our relationships with students. This usually begins even before 6th graders enter into the new school year. In a typical year during the Spring semester, our rising 6th graders have the opportunity to visit GMS with their elementary schools. During these visits students spend time touring the building, meeting administration and staff and then visiting with our counselors to talk through what it looks like to be a Viking on any given day. This is followed by visits from our counselors to the elementary schools for the registration process. As you know, due to Covid-19 we were unable to do any of these important transition events. Even as we plan to start our new school year, there are many things we would traditionally do that we are unable to plan for due to physical distancing guidelines and safety measures. However, it is still very important to us that for our 6th graders to feel connected and as comfortable as possible with entering the building during the first week of school. Therefore, we have scheduled a specific time on August 18th for a safe and structured opportunity for 6th graders to tour the building and ask questions with our amazing 8th grade WEB leaders. WEB is a mentorship program that is designed to pair up 8th graders and 6th graders for the sole purpose of supporting 6th graders during their transition to middle school through the year. Our tours on the 18th will be about 20 minutes in length and consist of 1-2 WEB leaders and 6-7 students.   If you would like to participate in this opportunity we are asking that you kindly follow our strict timeline and safety protocols to ensure our process is smooth and follows all District guidelines. Below is the schedule and expectations.

Date: August 18th, 2020
Where: Meet on the cement amphitheater steps on the south end of the building. Here you will meet up with an assigned WEB leader to begin your tour. Students will end their tour here as well.
Times: Students with the last names beginning with the following letters are assigned the following times:
A-E 9:30
F-K 10:00
L-R 10:30

All students must wear a mask both inside and out of the building that covers both their nose and mouth at all times. Unfortunately, parents are not allowed to enter the building at this time. Please discuss the expectations with your student prior to the tour. Feel free to stay on site in or near our parking lots while you wait. Additionally, we will have a video tour available on our website prior to the start of school. Please check our website regularly for updated information.  If you have any questions about this event, please email or call Mrs. Lind, 6th grade administrator. Thank you and we look forward to meeting your student!

Thank you,
