8th Grade Continuation

Happy 8th Grade Continuation- May 25th, 2017

Doors Open at 4:30 p.m. on May 25th, 2017

The ceremony begins at 5:30 p.m., and usually concludes in about an hour.

All eighth grade students participating in the May 25, 2017 Continuation Ceremony will receive four (4) audience tickets during CORE Plus on May 8th.. Each student will receive two (2) tickets for the main gym, where the ceremony will take place, and two (2) tickets for the cafeteria, where the ceremony is projected on a screen. If you would like to exchange tickets, or request additional tickets, please fill out the Ticket Request Form.  Tickets will be exchanged after tickets are handed out on May 9th.  Students must return the form signed in order to receive tickets.  If you will not be attending the ceremony please call Nancy Lesan, 303-347-7951 or email nlesan[at]lps.k12.co[dot]us to return your tickets.

Continuation Rehearsal:

This year’s Continuation Ceremony will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2017, at 5:30. There will be a dress rehearsal for this year’s ceremony during the day on Thursday, May 25th.  While we encourage all students to attend the dress rehearsal, students who are unable to attend rehearsals will still participate in the ceremony.

Continuation Dress Code:

Our Continuation Ceremony allows the Powell community to honor the accomplishments of our eighth grade class. For this reason, we conduct a formal academic ceremony. We wish to encourage all eighth grade students to dress appropriately for this recognition, and to be following Powell's dress code. Girls: Please wear business attire, such as dresses or skirts (of an appropriate length), or dress pants. Choose shoes that you can walk in gracefully. You will be walking across a stage, up and down stairs, to receive your Continuation certificate and to shake hands with a faculty member. No spaghetti straps or halter tops, no revealing too much skin. Please no jeans or shorts. Boys: Please wear business attire, such as dress pants, dress shirts and dress shoes. Ties are encouraged. You will be walking across a stage, up and down stairs, to receive your Continuation certificate and to shake hands with a faculty member. No T-shirts with alcohol/ tobacco advertisements or inappropriate sayings/pictures, clothing must be properly fitted. Please no jeans or shorts.
