Band

Open to 4th & 5th Graders Only

We offer instrumental music (band) instruction in brass, woodwinds and percussion for students in 4th and 5th grades. The band program requires a year-long commitment from our students and families. Students meet in their sectional groups (advanced band, brass, woodwinds and percussion) twice a week with a combined rehearsal once a week on Wednesdays.

Please note the following requirements for band students and their parents:

  • One-year commitment of two 40-minute group classes per week during the fine arts block. This still allows the student to select one additional arts class per semester. Students may also meet on selected Wednesdays for combined band.
  • Instruments and Rental Fees:
    • No rental fee is charged.  We may charge a $15 materials fee.
    • 4th and 5th graders can borrow a Centennial-owned band instrument while supplies last. Once our inventory is exhausted, students will need to provide their own instrument (owned or rented from a local music store).
    • Instruments from Centennial’s inventory will be issued to families on a first-come, first-serve basis as available.
    • Instruments will be checked out AFTER the arts program begins in September.
    • After first semester, we may allow students to take instruments home to practice.
    • Students will bring their instruments to class each time.
  • Attend performances (December, April/May) – See Save the Dates on this website.

While this is a serious commitment for you, it also brings great rewards for your student and your family with several performances throughout the year.
