Special Education

Meet Deanna Hood
I have been working in Littleton Public Schools since 2009. I am a resource teacher, and provide learning support services to our students. I am certified to teach art, as well as special education, and am completing my master's degree in curriculum and instruction in reading. I was born in Colorado, and feel fortunate to be working at Centennial. I am lucky enough to have three amazing teenagers who all have gone through LPS from kindergarten. They now attend Littleton High School. We have a wonderful frisbee catching mutt named Bodhi, and a bearded dragon named Kramer. In addition to teaching, I  paint and metalsmith, and continue to show my work in galleries and art shows in the summer. In my spare time I enjoy organic gardening, reading, yoga, and hiking with my kids.

Meet Karen Byorick
I am part of the Learning Support services team at Centennial Academy and provide school psychological services to students. I have been working with the Centennial students since 2002. Our time together is spent building self-image, expanding social skills, learning coping strategies and understanding feelings. Prior to working in Littleton, I was a school psychologist for the Douglas County School District. I received my Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Psychology and Computer Applications from the University of Notre Dame. While at Notre Dame, I was a competitive swimmer and an avid football fan. Go Irish! After graduating, I continued my education at the University of Denver. I received my Education Specialist degree in the area of School Psychology for children grades K-12. Outside of work, I spend time coaching swimming to young children who are part of the ACES Swim Club. Needless to say, I spend a lot of my day with children! I currently live in Littleton with my husband and two dogs, Raleigh and Roxi.

Meet Suzy Danielson
I have been providing speech and language services at Centennial Academy since 2003. I feel lucky to have a job that I truly enjoy. I am one member of the Learning Support Services team at Centennial. Working throughout the grade levels allows me to become familiar with many of the Centennial students. It is a joy to help out wherever I am needed, and I am extremely proud of the growth and progress that all of our students are making. Prior to moving to Littleton, I spent several years traveling between Colorado and California completing my education and living in a variety of cities. Ultimately, my husband and I decided that Colorado was where we wanted to call home. Shortly after buying a home in Littleton, we started our family. Our son, Garrett, was born in 2006 and our daughter, Leah, was born in 2008. We look forward to having both our kids receive a top-notch education with LPS. Outside of work, I enjoy snow and water skiing, traveling, walking our dog, and spending time with my friends and family.

Meet Nancy Zizzo
I am so excited to begin my 19th year as a school psychologist!  Although I’ve lived in Colorado for nearly 30 years, as soon as I open my mouth, it’s pretty easy to figure out that I’m originally from New York! I was born and raised in Queens and graduated from Queens College with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Anthropology. I am intrigued by cultures, traditions, and beliefs. I also have my Master’s degree in School Psychology from Queens College.  Prior to working for Littleton Public Schools, I have worked as a school psychologist in New York City, Long Island, Grand Junction, Denver, and Douglas County. I enjoy supporting students in reaching their goals by using out-of-the-box approaches, such as drama skits, puppet role-plays, games, and other hands-on activities. I also find it fun to collaborate with staff to teach social-emotional lessons. I’ve had such a great time dressing in costumes, hamming it up, and getting silly and creative, while engaging students as they learn new strategies.  My husband and I have three daughters. Two of our girls are in college and my oldest has recently graduated. We enjoy shopping at international grocery stores, trying out new recipes, and eating adventurous food! I also enjoy hiking and getting creative! I look forward to starting my new adventure, with my Potato Head friend, at Centennial Academy of Fine Arts!!
