Elementary students running into school

Attendance Line: 720-360-2101
Please leave a message on  24 hour attendance line before 7:30 am on the day your student will be absent.

Soft Start
At Justina Ford Elementary, we participate in a “soft start” to the school day. This means that your child can arrive at school any time between 7:35 a.m. and 7:50 a.m. Students are considered tardy if they arrive after 7:50 a.m. Having a soft start gives students a chance to calmly start their day without being rushed. They will be allowed to go to their classroom, unpack their things and touch base with their teacher. We will start our day promptly at 7:50 a.m. with our classroom morning meetings.

Breakfast
If your student will be having breakfast at school, they should arrive at 7:35 a.m. Ford will serve breakfast from 7:35-7:45 a.m. in our cafeteria.

Arrival/Playgrounds
We are unable to provide playground supervision before school and the playgrounds will be closed. Therefore all students will enter the building through the front doors upon arrival and head to their classrooms.

Students who attend school regularly have been shown to achieve at higher levels
than students who do not have regular school attendance.

Ford Attendance Process

Student Absences

  • Parents need to call the 24 hour attendance line at 720-360-2101 to report the absence of their child. The absence should be phoned in prior to 7:30 a.m. on the day of the absence. Parents should leave the following information: Student name, parent’s name, date(s) and reason for absence.
  • If the child will be absent for a planned period of time, call prior to the first day of the absence, specifying the exact dates of the absence and the date the student will return to school.
  • Parents will be contacted for any student who is absent and for whom the school has not received a parent call. It is extremely important that emergency contact information be up-to-date in Infinite Campus with home and cell numbers.
  • If your child has a communicable illness, please notify the office. Parents will be notified when students have been exposed to a communicable illness in the classroom if it is deemed necessary.
  • Make-up work will be provided to students who are absent due to illness. Contact your child’s teacher to make arrangements for make-up work due to illness.
  • Make-up work will not be provided in advance for families taking vacations during the school year.
