Every year across the nation, congressional districts sponsor "An Artistic Discovery," a visual arts competition. The talents of young aspiring artists compete to have their works displayed in the United States Capitol. The competition displays original works of art by students in grades 9-12 who reside in each district. The winner is flown out to Washington D.C. along with a guest to be recognized for this prestigious honor.
This year junior Nicole Hathaway received the top award in Colorado’s 6th Congressional District. This past summer she met with Congressman Mike Coffman for the awards ceremony and was given a special tour of the United States Capitol building. The visual arts department, along with the Heritage High School community, is extremely proud of her accomplishment.
