Creative Curriculum for Preschool is based on 38 objectives for development and learning. These objectives are fully aligned with Littleton Public Schools and state early learning standards, and integrated into each of the comprehensive collection of resources that makes up the curriculum.

The Creative Curriculum studies…

• Allow children to explore science and social studies topics while developing skills in language and literacy, math, technology, and the arts
• Let children apply their acquired skills in meaningful, real-life contexts
• Encourage higher-level thinking, development of intellectual interests, and positive approaches to learning
• Give children the necessary skills to solve problems and find answers to their questions in a creative way
• Support the development of social-emotional skills such as resolving conflict, sharing responsibilities and working collaboratively
• Encourage family involvement

The Village also believes social-emotional development to be essential during the preschool years. To address this need, we have adopted Dinosaur School as our primary social-emotional curriculum.  Teachers use a variety of materials and resources – books, puppets, pictures, videos and role play – to help children develop the necessary skills for positive social interactions, conflict resolution and identification and appropriate management of feelings. In conjunction with these curriculum choices, teachers monitor and assess each child’s development and learning using the Teaching Strategies GOLD Assessment System. This system identifies goals for learning across developmental domains, and teachers assess children’s development and progress on these goals three times a year.  Teaching staff use information from these assessment to identify and plan for individual learning needs.
