Prospective Parents

Newton Open Enrollment Procedures

Newton is pleased to accept applications from students for Open enrollment.  NONRESIDENT STUDENT means your student lives outside of the LPS attendance area (but may currently attend an LPS school). IN-DISTRICT OPEN ENROLLMENT means your student lives within the LPS attendance area, but would like to enroll at an LPS school of choice, not the home school. The enrollment window for both enrollments is from October 1st to January 17th.

Applications for Open Enrollment can be submitted beginning October 1st. 

  • IN-DISTRICT OPEN ENROLLMENT: For families who live within the LPS attendance area and wish to attend an LPS school other than their home school for the 2020-2021 school year, the forms will be available on the district website beginning October 1st.
  • NONRESIDENT STUDENT: For families who wish to attend an LPS school for the 2020-2021 school year and live outside of the LPS attendance area, the forms will be available on the district website beginning October 1st.
  • Continuing your NONRESIDENT STUDENT open enrollment: Families who have a student currently enrolled at Newton and would like to renew enrollment for the 2020-2021 school year are required to submit an Intent to Renew Enrollment form by the January 10th, 2020 deadline. The form is available on the district website beginning October 1st.

The following supporting documents must be submitted along with any applications for Open Enrollment (these forms are not required for Intent to Renew):

  1. Copy of your most recent report card or transcript
  2. Copy of your most recent attendance report
  3. Copy of IEP (if applicable)
  4. Copy of discipline record (The report is available from your current school), or a letter from school indicating no discipline actions.
  5. Copy of the most current standardized test scores

Applications for enrollment cannot be considered until all supporting documents have been received.

Meeting dates

Are you thinking about bringing your student to Newton? Do you have questions for our principal? If you answered yes then these meetings are for you. Please join us during one of our prospective parent meetings here at Newton. Advanced sign up is NOT required. Simply show up on one of the dates and times below.

  • 9/24 - 9:00 am to 10:30
  • 11/12 - 9:00 am to 10:30 am
  • 1/14 - 9:00 am to 10:30 am

During each meeting Mr. O'Tremba will cover all areas of the school in a very open ended meeting. There will be question and answer time. Time permitting, a school tour is available. We hope to see you at our next meeting.
