Welcome to my web page.  The best way to contact me is through email. I attempt to return all messages within 24-48 hrs. This is my fourteenth year as the principal at Newton Middle School and my 36th year as an educator.

I have a triple major in Secondary Education, History and Psychology from Minot State University in North Dakota. I received a Master's Degree in Counseling from the University of North Dakota and completed my Type D principal's license at the University of Denver.

I enjoy reading, sports, especially baseball and have a collection of bats and baseballs in my office.  My wife is a retired special education teacher of 31 years and continues to substitute teach on a regular basis. We have been married for 33 years.

We have two boys, a 26 year old son who graduated from Arizona State University  and is currently working on his master’s degree in education and student teaching at Littleton High School. We also have a 20 year old son who is a Junior at The University of Arizona and plays on their baseball team. He is majoring in psychology and aspires to play in Major League Baseball and then assume a career as a sports psychologist.

We enjoy traveling, especially to warm weather areas that include beaches, palm trees and oceans

I am honored to begin my 11th year as a Middle School educator at Newton! I have spent my entire career dedicated to middle level students.  I began my career in Glenview, Illinois as a language arts teacher.  After four years, my husband and I decided to have an adventure and move out to the mountains and sunshine.  I have worked in both Sheridan and Douglas County School Districts as a language arts teacher, gifted and talented facilitator, and dean of students.  Last year, I served as an Assistant Principal at Cimarron Middle School.

Outside of school, I enjoy hiking, camping, and skiing with my family and friends.  My husband, Phil and I have been married for eleven years and we have two sons, Wesley (5) and Charlie (3).  Our boys certainly keep us busy.   We spend our weekends visiting the mountains, walking and playing with our dog, Sadie, and spending as much time outside as possible.

I am thrilled to start my journey at Newton.  I am a Newton community member and my two sons will attend littleton elementary schools.  I believe I have a unique opportunity to serve my home school community and really get to know students and their families both inside and outside of our school walls.  I am committed to supporting students, families and staff.  Please reach out to me if I can support you in any way.

Years Teaching: Seven years teaching Math, Social Studies and Computers and 12 years in School Administration.

Years at Newton: This is my seventh year at Newton Middle School. I taught for six years in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan and one year in Chandler, Arizona before heading into administration for two years. I moved to Denver in 2010 and worked in administration at a middle school in Cherry Creek for three years before coming here in 2013.

Life Outside of Newton:  My wife and I have been married 14 years and have two children. Ben is ten and Lia is eight and they keep us busy. Besides spending my time away from Newton with my family, I am a big sports fan. I follow my alma mater, Michigan State University closely and look forward to college football and basketball seasons.  Additionally, I coach my sons tournament baseball team and that eats up a lot of my weekends from March through July.

I am extremely fortunate to work with such a great staff here at Newton and look forward to many years here. Please call or email if there is anything I can do for you and your family!
