Years Teaching: Seven years teaching Math, Social Studies and Computers and 17 years in School Administration.

Years at Newton: This is my FIRST year as the principal at Newton Middle School, after 11 years as an Assistant Principal here. I started my career in 2001 and taught for six years in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan and one year in Chandler, Arizona before heading into school administration for two years.

I moved to Denver in 2010 and worked in school administration at a middle school in Cherry Creek for three years before coming here in 2013.

Life Outside of Newton:  My wife and I have been married 19 years and have two children. Ben is 15 and Lia is 13 and they keep us busy. Besides spending my time away from Newton with my family, I am a big sports fan. I follow my alma mater, Michigan State University closely and look forward to college football and basketball seasons.  Also, I am a big fan of the Detroit Lions and Detroit Tigers!

I am extremely fortunate to work with such a great staff here at Newton and look forward to many years here. Please call or email if there is anything I can do for you and your family!

I am excited to be joining the Newton Middle School Team for my 19th year in education. Throughout my time in LPS, I have been a 5th grade teacher, gifted and talented facilitator, literacy teacher, instructional coach, dean of students, assistant principal, and most recently the principal at Peabody Elementary School.

Outside of school you will find me spending time with my family. I enjoy supporting my kiddos in the various sports and activities they are involved in.

I look forward to getting to know and support the students, staff, and community this year and for many years to come! Please call or email if there is anything I can do for you and your family!

It is an honor and a privilege to be part of the Newton Middle School community. I cannot wait to support our students, staff, and families.  This will be my 27th year in education. I spent 20 years teaching English at the high school I attended in Illinois. In my time there, I earned my National Board Certification in Language Arts as well as a second Master’s Degree in Leadership.  Stepping out of my comfort zone and embracing adventure, my husband, two boys, and I decided to move west to Colorado, and this is where my transition from teaching to administration began.  I started off as an Instructional Coach and then switched to Assistant Principal, and since I absolutely believe in the magic of a classroom, I love supporting teachers and students in their learning.

Outside of Newton, both of my boys play competitive baseball, so most of my “spare time” is spent hauling my cooler, chair and canopy all over Colorado.  In this crazy, fast-paced lifestyle, I have made many great friendships and memories, which keeps me going back for more.

Whether it’s school pride or baseball pride, I love the team spirit.  I look forward to being a KNIGHT. In the words of  King Arthur and his Knights: “Do not underestimate the power of unity, for together we can achieve greatness.” I believe we are better together, and  I look forward to working in partnership with you.
