Principal: Mr. Joe Hayes

It is with great excitement and eagerness that I begin my career in LPS at Field Elementary. I am honored to have been chosen as the new principal of such a dynamic, engaged school and community. Over the past 13 years, I worked in the Sheridan School District. After teaching 7th and 8th grade Language Arts for seven years, I spent a year as an instructional coach at the secondary level. The past five years were very rewarding as I became an elementary assistant principal for one year and then spent four years guiding Alice Terry Elementary.

My experiences have helped shape my vision and leadership style. I work hard to establish meaningful relationships with staff, students and families. Collaboration and clear communication are vital to me and I strive to partner with families to ensure student success and growth. Finally, I want our school to be a place where kids love to be, teachers love to work and families love to visit.

As a father of two elementary-aged children, I understand the demands of school for both students and families. I will ensure we do everything we can to support the academic, behavioral, emotional and social growth of each and every student. Field has an amazing teaching staff and I look forward to leading them in this challenging and rewarding work.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me in person, via email or on the phone. Again, thank you for the honor of working with your children and allowing me to help them become the best they can be today, tomorrow and in the future!

Thank you,
Joe Hayes

Dear Field Elementary Elementary School Community,

It is with great enthusiasm and excitement that I introduce myself to you as your assistant principal at Field Elementary! I look forward to partnering with you to provide our students with a rigorous, engaging, and caring school experience. I believe whole-heartedly in fostering meaningful and trusting relationships with students, staff, and families; as well as a strong school-home partnership. Together we will ensure that your child’s social, emotional, and academic needs are met; resulting in well-rounded, life-long learners.

Before joining Field, I served in a variety of teaching and educational leadership roles. I began my teaching career as a social studies and AVID teacher at Adams City High School in Commerce City, Colorado. I then had the opportunity to become an instructional coach at Adams City Middle School. After obtaining my principal’s license, I spent four years as an assistant principal and interim principal at Sheridan High School. I am beyond thrilled to begin my fourth year at Field Elementary! Throughout my career, I have focused deeply on equity and ensuring that all students we serve are able to be successful on a daily basis. I hold a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science, a Master of Arts in Special Education, and a Doctorate in Executive Leadership and Educational Equity. My experience, energy, and belief in our educational system have prepared me well to assist in leading Field Elementary.

I am much more than a dedicated and passionate educator. I am the proud mom of two amazing children. My oldest daughter, Charley, is a lover of life. She loves puzzles, swimming, and drawing. My youngest daughter, Ryan, enjoys learning new words every day. She also climbs on everything! My husband, Charlie, and I met in college (Go Buffs!) and we love to go for hikes and be outside. I am grateful for having such a strong and supportive family at my side, even when they are a handful!

I look forward to connecting with you all as the new school year is upon us. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions, concerns, or ideas you would like to share.

With excitement and gratitude,
Dr. Jessica Bach Slattery
