  • Solar Eclipse Information

There is a lot of excitement about the total solar eclipse that will occur Monday, August 21, 2017.  We ask parents to help us stress to your children the importance of not looking directly at the eclipse.  Children should be reminded that looking at the eclipse still means looking directly at the sun, which can damage their retinas.  According to NASA, it is never safe to look at a partial eclipse or the partial phases of a total solar eclipse without proper equipment and techniques.  Looking directly at the sun is never safe! NASA provides important information regarding eye safety during a solar eclipse. Thank you for your partnership to keep your children safe! All LPS Elementary schools will have inside lunch and recess on August 21st. Schools are planning to take students out for structured activities/learning opportunities related to the eclipse.   Ralph Moody Solar Eclipse Info Flyer
