We know what a big decision choosing a high school can be, and we want to help you to pick the school that is right for you. The Shadow Program at Heritage offers students 8th grade and up the opportunity to visit our campus so they can spend a morning and see what our school is really like.
Shadow Days are scheduled once a month beginning in September and are limited to 50 students per day. Please make your reservation early and let us know if you must cancel so we can contact students on the waiting list. We require that parents make these reservations since students will miss a half day of school and will need to be excused. We have many good volunteers who would love to spend the day sharing our school with you, but you may also make a special request. The reservation form has a place to request a sibling or friend to act as a Shadow Mentor for the morning, and provided their schedule works for that day, we will try to accommodate your request.
Students arrive at 7:15 a.m. for an introduction to their day and tour of the school led by our HHS Ambassadors. They then spend 3 class periods with their Shadow Mentor getting a "feel" for the school. Shadows will eat lunch together in our 2nd Floor Lecture Hall during 4th period. Lunch is graciously paid for by our PTO and will include presentations by students and teachers on athletics, clubs, and life as a Heritage Eagle. The Shadow Day ends at 11:30 a.m. Shadows will meet their parents in the parent loop out front of the school.
7:15 AM: Parent/Guardian checks student in at the HHS Theatre.
7:30 - 8:18: Receive packet of information, welcome and introduction "through the eyes of an eagle." Take a tour of the school led by the HHS Ambassadors.
8:18 - 8:23: Meet Shadow Mentors in the Main Office.
8:23 - 10:40: Attend classes with Shadow Mentor. Shadows will attend classes, walk the halls at passing period, and spend the morning as a Heritage Eagle!
10:40 - 11:30: Lunch with the HHS Ambassadors and presentations on Life at Heritage. Lunch in the 2nd Floor Lecture Hall is graciously paid for by our PTO. The students will receive a sack lunch with a choice between a salad, peanut butter and jelly sandwich or a turkey sandwich with an apple and cookie. A great ending to a great day!
11:30: Ready for parent/guardian pick-up in the loop in front of the school!
