Attendance

Attendance Expectations and Procedures

As we support our EPIC students’ preparation for meaningful post-secondary opportunities,  all students are expected to attend each class on time every day it meets.  Due to the nature of our programming and the hands-on experiences our students will have, attendance and timeliness  are critical for success.  EPIC faculty and administration will work with students and families with a combination of interventions and consequences if there are concerns with a student’s attendance.

If a student needs to miss class, a parent/guardian designated in Infinite Campus  must call the Attendance Office (303-347-4469 ) to excuse the absence either prior to the absence, the day of the absence or by 3:30 pm the day following the absence.  Notes or emails will not be accepted.  Excusals will be based on LPS School Board Policy JH.

If a student needs to miss a portion of a class (arrive late, leave early, etc.), a parent/guardian must call the Attendance Office.

Instructors will take attendance in Infinite Campus within the first 10 minutes of each class, with individual changes made by the end of the period.  Students arriving more than 10 minutes late will require a pass from the Attendance Office to enter the learning environment.

Infinite Campus will call/message parents/guardians of absences/tardies each period and at the end of each day.

Excessive absences (excused or unexcused) and/or tardies (excused or unexcused) will be addressed by EPIC faculty and administration.  Interventions may include, but are not limited to; restorative conversations with the student and parent, request to make-up class time to complete missed learning experiences, etc.

Students who are suspended from their home high school may not attend classes or activities at the EPIC Campus during that suspension period.  Students who are suspended for behavior at the EPIC Campus may not attend classes or activities at their home high school during that suspension period.
