Pre-Registration Requirements:
The state of Colorado requires that all persons pre-register with the DMV prior to obtaining a driving permit. 

Before registering for an LPS Driver's Education session, you must pre-register with the DMV here: https://mydmv.colorado.gov

Once pre-registration with the DMV is complete, you may pick your preferred option and register:

  1. Physical Classroom and Behind the Wheel - cost: $440

    -- Register online through RevTrak  OR  print the pdf form and mail in check or money order.
     
  2. Behind the Wheel Only - cost: $360
    -- Once you register, you will be paired with a driving instructor and work out your driving schedule.
    -- Register online through RevTrak  OR  print the pdf form and mail in check or money order.
     
  3. Online Classroom and Behind the Wheel - cost: $440
    -- Once you register, you will send in payment and complete the course. After completing the course, see the site for instructions for scheduling Behind the Wheel instruction.
    -- Register through the online classroom site, then mail in check per the instructions.

 

* Enrollment is first come, first served and will not be accepted over the phone.

Confirmation of enrollment will be sent after the registration form is received. Room numbers and class information will be in the confirmation letter.

Students with any type of disability or on any medication must notify the Driver Education Office in writing.

4 Hour Driver Awareness Course

If you are already 15 years 6 months, you may take the 4 hour Driver Awareness course and receive your learner's permit upon completion.

This defensive driving course is designed and approved by the National Safety Council. The objective of this course is to increase the awareness of the need and the benefits of defensive driving. The following will be covered:

  • Driving Conditions
  • Unsafe Driving Behaviors
  • Aggressive Driving
  • Collision Prevention Formula
  • Air Bag & Seat Belt Safety
  • Drugs and Their Effects on Driving
  • The Driving Environment
  • Adverse Conditions
  • Intersections/Railroad Crossings
  • Rules & Regulations for Responsible Driving
  • Driving Behaviors That Contribute to Crashes & Violations

This is a 4-hour class that will enable your student to obtain a learners permit when they are 15 years 6 months.

The cost of this program is $79.00

Must be at least 15 1/2 to participate.

This course may also be taken in addition to the Driver Education class.
