We know things are looking a little different this year and want to ensure you that we are doing our part to provide some consistency in your students' day. From extra safety measures to extending meal service to ensure access, the nutrition services team is here for you and your family. Our LPS Nutrition Services team is proud to be a reliable source for healthy meals to thousands of students each day.
Meals at Schools
All schools Pre-K-5th grade will offer meal service in the cafeteria. Many safety precautions have been put into place to ensure we are keeping our students and staff safe at all times. Please see the Safety Precautions for Food Service section below for additional details. Looking to see what's on the menu? Click here! Beginning September 1, 2020 all meals will be FREE for ALL students through December 2020 or until available funding runs out.
Meals for Students Learning at Home (Hybrid and TOPS)
Families with students who are learning from home will have the opportunity to pick up breakfasts and lunches once per week for the whole week. Temporary Online Program for Students (TOPS) families will be able to get up to five breakfasts and five lunches for each student and families with students in a hybrid in-person/remote learning model will be able to get up to three breakfasts and lunches for each student (schedule below). Students do not have to be present at meal pickup. Beginning September 1, 2020, ALL meals for ALL students will be FREE until December 2020 or until available funding runs out.
TOPS families’ meal pickup will take place outdoors at hub schools, similar to Nutrition Services’ “Grab & Go” service over the summer. Middle and high school students participating in the hybrid in-person/remote instruction model will be able to pick up their meals at their school or at the hub schools identified for TOPS students on Mondays/Fridays. All food available for pickup is prepackaged. If your family has students with food allergies or sensitivities, please call Nutrition Services to make arrangements for special meals at your family’s pickup location (303-347-3355).

Safety Precautions for Food Service
Other changes Nutrition Services has made due to COVID-19 include limiting daily menu options to increase line speed and to limit waste. To help prevent cross-contamination and the spread of germs, the department also will request that students purchase items they have touched in the serving line. Please encourage your student to not sort through the milk options or touch items on the serving line that they do not intend to purchase.
Information is always changing, so be sure to follow us on our website www.lpsnutrition.com and social media (Instagram @lps_nutrtion_services or Facebook @lpsnutritionservices) for the most up-to-date details.
*IMPORTANT NOTE: As of September 1, 2020, ALL meals for ALL students will be FREE. However, we request that you please still apply for free and reduced meals as this flexibility will only last until December 31, 2020 or until available funding runs out.
Prior Year Free and Reduced Price Meal Benefits Extended 30 Days into the 2020-2021 School Year!
If your student qualified for free or reduced meal benefits last school year, those benefits will be extended into the first 30 days of the 2020-2021 school year. A new application must be completed each school year. Any application that is not completed and processed within the first 30 days of the school year, will be changed to paying status. While at this time all students are eating for free, once USDA funding runs out students will be charged at their eligibility status. Families are held responsible for any charges that accrue anytime between benefit status lapses. Get your applications completed soon! Applying online is the fastest way to get your application processed, or pick up an application from your school's front office or kitchen staff.
