A message from our Principal!

August 2019

Dear Peabody Parents and Families,

I hope that you enjoyed the summer and that you are gearing up for an amazing school year!  For those of you who are returning to Peabody, welcome back! For those of you who are new to Peabody this year, welcome to the Peabody Family!

My name is Francesca Pappalardo and I am honored to have been chosen to lead the Peabody community as Principal. I had the opportunity to spend some time at Peabody last spring with our amazing educators, students, and staff. I loved meeting so many of you at our Family Picnic/Ice Cream Social. I commented to my husband that it felt more like a family reunion than a school community event. It is clear that Peabody is a close-knit community that cares deeply about each and every child and ensuring that each student is getting what they need when they need it.

I look forward to partnering with you to provide our students a rigorous, engaging, and caring school experience. I believe whole-heartedly in fostering meaningful, trusting relationships with students, staff and families, as well as a strong home-school partnership. Together we will ensure that your child’s social, emotional, and academic needs are met resulting in sturdy, caring human beings.

Before joining Peabody, I served in a variety of teaching and educational leadership roles. I started my teaching career in 1999 in Englewood Public Schools and continued in Douglas County Schools. I have taught kindergarten, first grade, and second grade, as well as working with struggling readers as a Reading Recovery teacher. For the past six years, I have served as an assistant principal and Interim Principal in neighborhood elementary schools in Douglas County. I am excited to have started a new journey this fall leading the staff at Peabody in providing an exceptional education for all students.

I am much more than a dedicated and passionate educator, however. I am the proud mom of two amazing kids. My son, Gabe, graduated from high school last spring and is enjoying a summer filled with music, art, camping, hiking and working. He is paving his own path and staying true to his values and his authentic self. I am very proud of him. My daughter, Leila, is a senior in high school this year. We had two fun mother-daughter trips to visit college campuses and we’re all excited to find out where she will be headed to continue her education. My husband, Ken, and I are both alumni of Littleton Public Schools having graduated from Littleton High School (a long, long time ago). It feels good to be home. We have a quirky beagle named Chester and a grouchy black cat named Satchmo, both of whom keep things interesting. They are a handful!

Once again, welcome to the 2019-2020 school year!  I am looking forward to meeting and getting to know many more of our wonderful families.  Please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions, concerns, or ideas you would like to share.
