Welcome Back Hopkins

Our Mission

Hopkins is a loving and supportive community where all students can and will achieve high academic and social-emotional success. We practice Top Hoppers Behavior: be safe, be respectful and be responsible!

Academic Programs / Special Features

  • Extended learning opportunities include: art, music, physical education and library
  • Clubs and activities include: Choir, Science Fair, Run Club, Chess Club, Lego Robotics, Math Olympiad (5th), Kindness Club, Battle of the Books (4/5), Talent Show, Conflict Managers and many more.
  • The academic curriculum includes literacy, math, science, social studies, physical education, music, art and library
  • Computer Access: All students Grades 2–5 have 1:1 access to computers to integrate into all subject areas. Students use computers throughout the day to write, read, practice mathematics, collaborate and research. Students also use class wikis, blogs and Google Docs to synthesize their work. Kindergarten and Grade 1 each have one class set of laptops to share between two classrooms.
  • PLCs: Teachers collaborate weekly to study assessment data and adjust instruction to meet the needs of each student. We set long- and short-term goals for every student and carefully monitor progress. As a result of this strategic approach to instruction, Hopkins students are achieving the highest reading scores since the inception of state testing.
  • Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS): a proactive, school-wide approach to discipline which focuses on teaching and supporting positive behavior in all students. Top Hoppers is our PBIS motto. All teachers hold a 20-minute community time each day to teach second step curriculum, restorative circles, social/emotional support, and community building. We also have a counselor here 4 days per week.
  • School Age Child Care (SACC): High Hoppers is available throughout the school year for students K–5, 6:30 a.m.–6:00 p.m. Students enjoy a wide range of enrichment opportunities and activities. SACC is closed for school holidays but is available on in-service, late start and early dismissal dates
  • Summer Child Care: Summer day childcare is available for school-age children going into Grades 1–6.

Younger preschool and older preschool classes are available for students 3 to 5 years old. We provide a balanced curriculum promoting the social-emotional and academic growth of each child through age-appropriate activities in a safe and nurturing environment. Half-day and full-day are available, as well as before and after preschool care.

It's going to be a great school year!
