Andrea Scott Selected as 2019 WIDA Fellow

Congratulations to Goddard Middle School teacher Andrea Scott for being selected as a World-class Instructional Design and Assessment (WIDA) Fellow.  This is a new program started through a collaboration between WIDA and ICMEE (The International Consortium for Multilingual Excellence in Education) at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, with the purpose of elevating and making visible excellent practice with multilingual learners.

With 18 years of teaching experience and three years as an English Language Development teacher at Goddard, Scott said “It is exciting to work with such a diverse group of educators from around the country, and to find a lot of universal struggles and different ways to champion the learners that we represent.”

The Fellows are considered Classroom Implementation Experts on Professional Learning design projects. Ms. Scott will help develop a WIDA eWorkshop in Math and participate in a monthly virtual book club with other Fellows around the country.

WIDA is a consortium of 37 states dedicated to the design and implementation of high standards and equitable educational opportunities for English language learners. Their assessments are designed to measure students' progress in English language development.
