Bridges & Number Corner

We are very excited that all LPS elementary schools have adopted Bridges and Number Corner.  Bridges is a rigorous curriculum that focuses on developing students' deep understanding of mathematical concepts and the ability to solve complex and novel problems.   Parent resources from the Bridges site can be found here.

Number Corner compliments Bridges and is used in kindergarten through 5th grade to provide an additional dip of daily practice and opportunities for students to share their thinking about math.

Both math programs align with Common Core State Standards and emphasize the 8 Mathematical Practices that are critical to develop in students:

  1. Make sense of problems and persevere in solving them
  2. Reason abstractly and quantitatively
  3. Construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others
  4. Model with mathematics
  5. Use appropriate tools strategically
  6. Attend to precision
  7. Look for and make use of structure
  8. Look for and express regularity in repeated reasoning.
