Hello! I feel so privileged to be serving the Sandburg community as the Dean of Students this year! I feel so fortunate to be working with the supportive parents, dedicated students, and highly talented staff members here at Sandburg.

I was a teacher for 12 years prior to my dean role. For six of those years, I was a fourth grade teacher at Sandburg. Before that, I taught fifth grade in both Indianapolis and Chicago. I received my Bachelors in Elementary Teaching from Purdue University. I also have a Masters in Educational Leadership from the University of Northern Colorado with a Colorado principal's license.

I'm very excited about this upcoming year! Each day brings new excitement, more opportunities for learning and growing, and many chances to interact with incredible students.

What does the Dean of Students do?

  • Works with students in the classrooms teaching Second Step; the district social & emotional awareness education program for students.
  • Makes lunch fun by showing a photo slideshow that is comprised of photos that teachers have contributed to and by playing music.
  • Supports Playworks on the playground.
  • Engages with students to problem solve & and help build friendship skills.
