Counseling/Mental Health Team

Ms. Lynn Christensen

Position: 6th grade Counselor

Education: Masters of Arts in School Counseling from the University of Northern Colorado, undergraduate degree in Communications from Tulane University.

Bio: I was born and raised in Englewood, Colorado.  After living in New Orleans for four years while attending Tulane University for my undergraduate degree, I moved to Boston and worked as an Admissions Counselor at Northeastern University.  Once I experienced a winter in the East Coast I decided to give California a try.  I lived in Marin County, California for seven years and worked in public relations and marketing for an educational software company called Broderbund Software.  I also had the fortunate experience of working for LEGO MindStorms in the Robotics Division coordinating the kid testing program.  I grew tired of the technology bust in the late 90's and decide to move back home to pursue my lifelong dream of becoming a school counselor.  After finishing my graduate degree in School Counseling, I promptly got a job at Arapahoe High School.  After four years at Arapahoe, I am now entering my second year as a middle school counselor at Powell Middle School.  I am thrilled to be working with middle school students and their families. In my free time I enjoy traveling.  I have had the opportunity to travel to places such as Thailand, Costa Rica, Belize, Mexico, and Europe.  I also love to run, hike, make pottery, do yoga, and spend time with my friends and family.

Mrs. Cassie D'Orazio

Position: School Psychologist

Education: Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin. Masters of Science in Education from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.

Bio: I was born and raised in Wisconsin, where I spent my childhood playing sports and watching football (go PACK). My love of psychology began during my studies at the University of Wisconsin, where I also competed on the women’s dive team. After college I attended graduate school at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, where I received my school psychology training and degree. My first position as a school psychologist was in Schaumburg school district 54 in Schaumburg, Illinois. This experience gave me invaluable knowledge of what it means to be a professional learning community and how to build a multi-tiered system of supports in a school community. In 2010 my husband was offered a job in beautiful Colorado. We moved here and never looked back. I have spent the last six years of my career working in both Windsor School District and Douglas County School District, and I am thrilled to now be a member of the Powell family. In my free time I enjoy spending time in the mountains hiking, snowboarding, and camping with my husband and dog Bentley.

Education: B.S. in Human Development and Family Studies, Colorado State University, M.A. in School Counseling (K-12), University of Northern Colorado.

Bio: I am a native of this beautiful state and grew up in Longmont.   I am the oldest of four with one brother and two sisters and I have one niece and eight nephews.  I love being an auntie and it is awesome to get to work with children of all ages in LPS.  People always ask me which age group I like best since I have worked at the elementary, middle, and high school levels.  The answer is easy--I love them all, each for different reasons!!  I am honored to share in the journey of education and lifelong learning with hundreds of children, adolescents, and parents across the district.

I love to read, sing, and enjoy the outdoors.  I also love to hike, bike, climb, raft, ski...whatever takes me outside!  I have had many, many years of American Sign Language classes (since I was in the 4th grade) and can communicate fluently in conversational sign.  I am always up for a great movie or TV show like NCIS or CSI!!  One of my favorite annual series on Discovery is SHARK week and my favorite new show is American Ninja Warrior!

Mrs. Tiffany Ritchie

Position: School Psychologist

Education: Bachelor in Science in Psychology from Michigan State University; Education Specialist in School Psychology from University of Colorado, Denver

Bio: I was born and raised in western Michigan in a farming area.  After attending Michigan State University I moved to Denver to attend graduate school.  It was an eye-opening experience to go from the farm to the city.  Through graduate school I worked within a residential treatment facility for teenagers struggling with conduct issues, mental health and declining family relationships.  In my third year of graduate school, I completed my internship here in Littleton at Heritage High School and Centennial Elementary, as well as a few months at Field Elementary and both charter schools. I started my career at Powell and have been here since 2007.  I am proud to be a Puma!
I spend my time outside of school doing family activities with my husband, young daughter and our two rescue dogs.  We love to spend time with our friends here in Colorado and try to get into the mountains.  When we can, we enjoy traveling; although most of our travel is visiting families members in Michigan and Louisiana.
