Clubs & Activities

Peabody Elementary offers several clubs that students can join.  There are also non-school sponsored after school enrichment classes that students can participate in.

TerraCycle is an innovative recycling company that has become a global leader in recycling hard-to-recycle waste.  TerraCycle offers free recycling programs funded by brands, manufactures, and retailers around the world to help collect and recycle hard-to-recycle items and donates money back to the organizations that provides items for them.  Peabody has partnered with TerraCycle as a fundraiser and we get cash for our trash.  The items Peabody recycles through TerraCycle include:

  • empty juice pouches
  • granola bar wrappers
  • foil-lined chip bags
  • fruit and veggie pouches (ex:  Go Go Squeeze)
  • tape dispensers
  • Crayola markers----we recycle these through Crayola
  • tooth care products
  • cereal bags
  • empty make-up containers
  • empty skin care containers
  • empty hair care containers

Garden Club
The idea of our garden was born in December 2011. We cleared our plot, built beds, and planted seeds with the help of parents and donations from our community. Our garden has advanced our mission of school-wide gardening. The goal of the Peabody Garden Club is to introduce every child to gardening one vegetable at a time.

Technnology-Robotics-Innovation Club

Try. Make mistakes. Learn.

WHAT: Are you curious about Technology - Robotics - Innovation? We are starting a new after school “hands-on-work-study-group” that will delve into all three of these components.

  • Use creativity and technology to solve problems

  • Learn how to work together to solve problems

  • Learn to find inspiration in experiences and observations

  • Learn how to program computers

  • Learn electronics and soldering

  • Develop fundamental troubleshooting skills

  • Grow your intuition of physics and electronics

WHEN: Thursdays from 3:15 - 4:30 starting October 27th.

COST: $25.00 This money will be used for equipment and a T.R.I. Peabody t-shirt.

COMMITMENT: With the idea that this group is designed to provide opportunities for Science Technology Engineering and Math connections, instruction, and projects throughout the year, as well as a spot to compete in the spring district elementary robotics competition, positive, respectful, and safe behavior will be required. Any student who does not abide by this commitment will be removed from the group.

Due to the nature of the work that we will be doing, there is only space for 12 total students, participation in the group will be decided on a lottery basis.
