Welcome.  The best way to contact me is through e-mail. I attempt to return all messages within 24-48 hrs. This is my tenth year as the principal at Newton Middle School and my 32nd year as an educator.

I have a triple major in Secondary Education, History and Psychology from Minot State University. I received a Master's Degree in Counseling from the University of North Dakota and completed my Type D principal's license at the University of Denver.

I enjoy reading, sports, especially baseball and have a collection of bats and baseballs in my office.  My wife is a special education teacher in the Cherry Creek School District and we have been married for 29 years. We have two boys a 22 year old son who graduated from Arizona State University this spring and works in Phoenix. We also have a 16 year old son who is a Junior at Cherry Creek High School.

We enjoy traveling, especially to warm weather areas that include beaches, palm trees and oceans.

Going into my 17th year in education, I still get excited about the first day of school!  I love new challenges and being a life-long learner; which is why I'm thrilled to begin my next adventure as an AP at Newton.  I've been very impressed with how welcoming everyone at Newton and Littleton Public Schools have been since my very first day.  I look forward to working with each of you in whatever capacity brings us together.

My whole teaching career was spent teaching intermediate grades, with 12 of those years at sixth grade.   I love the uniqueness of that age level and appreciate the curve balls they throw at me everyday.  I spent the last two years of my career as an AP at an elementary school in Castle Rock.

I grew up in Colorado attending Bear Creek high school before heading out west to go to college in California.  I was honored to play volleyball all four years for Dominican University of California.  After college, I returned home to earn my teaching license and master's degree at Denver University.  Being a native of Colorado, I enjoy the outdoors including skiing, playing volleyball, and watching my kids play sports.

My husband is also an educator; he's a math teacher and head football coach at Rock Canyon HS in Douglas County.  Together we have four kids- the oldest is headed off to college this fall, we have two in high school and a son who is in fourth grade.  They keep us busy but bring lots of joy to our household.

Please stop by anytime to say hi-

Amy Rahne

Years Teaching: Seven years teaching Math, Social Studies and Computers and seven years in School Administration.

Years at Newton: This is my second year at Newton Middle School. I taught for six years in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan and one year in Chandler, Arizona before heading into administration for two years. I moved to Denver in 2010 and worked in administration at a middle school in Cherry Creek for three years before coming here in 2013.

Life Outside of Newton:  My wife and I have been married nine years and have two children. Ben is five and Lia is three and they keep us busy. Besides spending my time away from Newton with my family, I am a big sports fan. I follow my alma mater, Michigan State University closely and look forward to college football and basketball seasons. Additionally, I am a big Detroit Tigers fan.

I am extremely fortunate to work with such a great staff here at Newton and look forward to many years here. Please call or email if there is anything I can do for you and your family!
