NOVEMBER - Monthly Highlights of Positive Behavior Initiatives at Lenski

  • We continued our weekly B3 rewards drawings. Weekly winners received their bracelets and had a group photo taken and displayed on the TV in the entrance.
  • Second Step:
    • In Kindergarten we learned how to be assertive when asking for help. Students learned what an assertive posture and tone of voice look and sound like. We continued with our practice of listening and following directions and using self-talk to help us focus.
    • In 1st grade we have identified and learned to recognize comfortable and uncomfortable feelings in ourselves.
    • In 2nd grade we learned that being assertive means asking for what we want and need in a calm and firm voice, respectfully.
    • In 3rd grade we discussed how making a plan can help us be better learners. The good plan checklist:
      • The order makes sense,
      • it's simple,
      • I can do it myself.
    • In 4th grade we identified situations in which there might be a need to calm down. We identified different ways to calm down, e.g. counting and using positive self-talk.
    • In 5th grade we discussed how anxiety and frustration can can in the way of learning. We identified the physical signs and practice using the Calming Down Steps.
    • Most classes have received 'Home Link' worksheets to discuss at home.
