Principal: Lyn Bajaj

NOTE: Lyn Bajaj will be extending her leave of absence for the remainder of the school year to care for a family member. Mrs. Bajaj greatly appreciates all the support she has received from both the Field Staff and Field Community. In the interim, Mrs. Jessica Slattery, our current Assistant Principal, will serve as the Field Principal. She has done a wonderful job getting to know the Field Staff and Families since becoming the Assistant Principal just last August. Mrs. Slattery will continue to partner with school and district staff to guide instruction and support the needs of students, staff and families.

I am the proud Principal of Eugene Field Elementary School where we believe that EVERY student should have the opportunity to serve in a leadership role during the school year. Our school is focused on making sure that all kids learn and grow at a rigorous rate and that every student understands their goals and what it will take to achieve them. I am honored to serve alongside the dedicated staff and teachers at Field Elementary and to work with such amazing students and their families on a daily basis. When I'm not at school enjoying the Field students and their families, I'm at home with my own family. My husband and I have been married for almost 20 years, and we have two teenaged kids who keep us busy! Our son is a Sophomore at Heritage High School where he is on the golf team, and our daughter is an 8th grader at Euclid Middle School and loves riding and training horses. When we have time, we enjoy getting out in the beautiful Colorado sunshine as a family, playing golf, riding horses, skiing, biking and hiking. If I haven't yet met you, I would love to have the opportunity to meet you and your family and take you on a tour of this very special school.

Interim Principal: Jessica Slattery

"Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world."   Nelson Mandela

I am thrilled to join the Field Elementary team, serving as the Assistant Principal! Prior to coming to Field, I spent four years as an Assistant Principal at Sheridan High School. I have also had educational experience in the classroom as a teacher, an instructional coach, a professional development facilitator, and a cross country coach. I graduated with my Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Colorado and I have a Master’s Degree in Special Education from the University of Colorado at Denver. I have a strong belief in lifelong learning, therefore am currently working on my Doctorate in Executive Leadership and Educational Equity from the University of Colorado at Denver. My dissertation will focus on women in educational leadership. When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Charlie (a proud Arapahoe High School graduate!), and our beautiful 16-month- old daughter, Charlotte. I like to hike, run, watch musical theatre, and travel. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve at Field and look forward to learning more about the community and working with you all. Cheers to a wonderful year ahead!

Interim Assistant Principal: Nicolette Vander Velde

Nicolette Vander Velde holds a bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, with an emphasis in English as a Second Language from the University of Northern Colorado. She also completed a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction, and received her principal licensure from the University of Phoenix. Nicolette began her teaching career in 2004 as a second grade teacher at East Elementary School.  After spending four years in second grade, she decided to move into the fifth grade classroom, where she focused on instructional technology integration. In a 1:1 netbook classroom, she effectively used technology to support writing instruction, science inquiry and reading skills development. Nicolette's most recent role is here at Field as our Interim Assistant Principal. Through this role, she will continue to explore her leadership skills, work with families, and establish close relationships with students.
