Last fall we solicited nominations from students, staff and parents for the Arapahoe Teacher of the Year. A committee of administrators, teachers, students and classified staff defined the process, developed the criteria, and went through hundreds of nominations to select this year's winner.

Congratulations to Spanish teacher Vicki Lombardi for being Arapahoe's teacher of the year!

One student wrote,

You can walk into class, on any day, at any time, with any class, and you will see a woman who is passionate, positive, kind, and dedicated. Her teaching style is simple and effective. She adjusts to students who need extra help and challenges each student individually, all with a graceful patience and mom-like sense of humor. She is deliberate, yet gentle, wise and humble. Ask her students what the result of her teaching is and they will show you an ear and mind for language and love for learning.

A parent had this to say,

She is not only a strong teacher but she is quite the mentor to the kids. She cares about each student both in and out of school, which creates a unique bond. This allowed my daughter to love and enjoy every day of learning her Sophomore and Junior year in Spanish class. She still remains very close to her and continues to help her in all areas of school and life.
