Unpaid Meal Policy

At LPS Nutrition Services we are committed to providing high quality, healthy meals to our students.  We feel it is important to ensure we feed all kids, every day, in an equitable manner.  As such, we do our best to ensure parents are notified when their students' lunch accounts contain a negative balance.  Students at all grade levels are allowed to charge meals and complimentary meals are given in kindergarten - 8th grade once the charge limit has been reached.  Nutrition Services and school staff make every effort to contact parents and inform them when their students are receiving complimentary meals.  Per Federal Regulations, nutrition service departments cannot take on bad debt.  Therefore, bad debt must be covered by other sources such as the district general fund or donations.  Please see the document below for details.
