 Section 125 Tax Deferred Plans

Littleton Public Schools offers three choices for employees under its Section 125 Plan.  You may participate in one, two, or all three plans.  These programs allow you to pay insurance payroll deductions, medical expenses (not reimbursed by insurance), and/or dependent care expenses on a pre-tax rather than an after-tax basis resulting in higher take home pay.  The pre-tax dollars you put into these programs each pay period are not subject to federal or state income taxes., Medicare, or PERA contributions.

You must complete the enrollment form and required information in order to enroll in any of these plans.  If you do not enroll in these plans upon hire, your next opportunity to enroll will be during a re enrollment period unless you have a change in family/employment status as defined by the IRS.

Premium Only Plan (POP)

Premium Only Plan (POP) deductions allow you to pay your share of required insurance premiums with pre-tax deductions from your pay.  Once you enroll, these premium contributions will be deducted automatically on a pre-tax and pre-PERA basis until you elect to stop POP or complete a new enrollment form without electing POP.  The result: an increase in your pay!

Health Care Spending Account

Eligible employees can put up to $3,000 per plan year in their health care spending account through monthly payroll deductions.  This money may then be claimed by the employee for unreimbursed medical expenses (expenses not covered by insurance such as RX, office co-pays, non-covered vision or dental expenses.)

Dependent Care Spending Account

Employees may put up to $5,000 annually in a dependent care spending account through monthly payroll deductions to pay for dependent care expenses necessary because you  (and your spouse) are working.   This money may then be claimed by the employee for reimbursement by submitting receipts for day care expenses to the service provider, RPS.

Section 125 Reimbursement Claim forms are available in the school offices and from the Benefits Office and contain instructions on how and where to file for reimbursement.
