 Cognitive Abilities Test

The Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) measures the level and pattern of cognitive reasoning development in students.  The test measures both general and specific reasoning abilities.  These abilities are measured in three domains: verbal, quantitative and nonverbal.  The results help teachers adapt instructional goals, methods and materials to the individual needs of each student. This assessment is administered in grades 3 and 6.
