Jim Plunkett-Cole, aka "Jim Gump," visits Peabody

Peabody Elementary School 5th graders and members of the school's running club enjoyed a visit from Jim Plunkett-Cole February 24, 2017. Plunkett-Cole is a runner from London who has become famous for running 13,000 miles over the past several years without skipping a single day. (He typically runs a marathon distance every day!)

Plunkett-Cole aka "Jim Gump" is currently replicating Forrest Gump's three-year run across the United States, stopping at schools along the way to share stories of his travels. On October 1, 2016, he started his journey from Mobile, Ala (just like Forrest Gump did in the movie) and runs a minimum of 17 miles every day, usually getting 22 miles in. He has run 3,000 miles in the U.S. thus far.

He stresses the importance of daily physical activity, preferably outdoors, and the rewards that this brings in terms of seeing more of the world.
