Elementary Mathematics

Littleton Public Schools Elementary Schools continue to use the 2004 edition of Everyday Mathematics as their primary resource in kindergarten through the fifth grade.  With the implementation of the Colorado Academic Standards, these materials have been supplemented with quality resources that provide additional focus and rigor in key content areas at each grade level.

In the 2014-2015 school year, a committee has met to review available math resources and select a resource to forward to the Board of Education for consideration and possible adoption.  The committee is made up of teachers from each elementary school and represents each grade level, special education, English language learners and gifted and talented programs.  A principal serves on the committee and the committee is facilitated by Ann Summers, the Math and Intervention Specialist.

The committee has selected Bridges with Number Corner by the Math Learning Center to recommend to the Board of Education.  An announcement of this recommendation will go out in school newsletters at the end of March.  Materials will be on display for the community in the foyer of the Board Room at the Education Services Center from March 30th to April 23rd.  The math specialist will be available to answer questions on April 1st from 3pm to 6pm during an “open house” at the community display.  The Board is scheduled to hear discussion of this recommendation at the April 9th Board Meeting.

Please contact Ann Summers, the Math and Intervention Specialist, at asummers@lps.k12.co.us or 303-347-3538 with additional questions.
