There's something for everyone in LPS middle schools!
Middle school is a time of great change for students. They seem to grow inches overnight and they begin to develop a sense of independence. It's a time of great change for parents, too. They watch their children enter middle school with much of the same structure as they experienced in elementary school and they leave middle school ready to transition into the busy world of high school. No one understands these changes and provides choices and support better than our four middle schools. The flexibility and choices offered in middle school grow as the students mature.
Littleton Public Schools' four middle schools offer a comprehensive education to students in grades six through eight. A challenging curriculum for all academic skill levels is in place in language arts, reading, science, math, and social studies. Accelerated math courses are offered at all grade levels, and students are grouped by ability in math to allow for more individualized instruction for all students.
Many exploratory electives are available to middle school students as well. There are choices in fine, practical, and performing arts; foreign language; aerospace/aeronautics; technology; physical education; band, vocal, and strings programs; commercial art; and wood shop. A wide variety of intramural sports and student clubs are open to all students. There truly is something for everyone!
All middle schools prepare students for any of our high schools, including preparation for the International Baccalaureate program offered at Littleton High School. Gifted/Talented and special education services are provided at each middle school. Technology is viewed as a critical tool that must impact instruction and student learning in a powerful way.
