Littleton Public Schools offers the following benefit plans to eligible employees 

Retirement Plans

PERA retirement plan: www.copera.org

Tax deferred savings plans are special accounts that allow employees to save money for retirement while deferring taxes on that money until withdrawn.  Employees pay lower federal and state income taxes now because this money is deducted from their paycheck before taxes ("tax deferred") and forwarded to their plan account(s). 

The district has established TIAA-CREF as the single vendor for its 403(b) and 457(b) tax deferred plans which, along with PERA's 401(k), are the only Tax Deferred Savings Plans permitted under Board of Education Policy through Littleton Public Schools' payroll deduction.  The numbers refer to the Internal Revenue Code sections that apply to these plans.

Cigna Consumer Driven Health Plan with Health Savings Account (CDHP/H.S.A.) 

  • 2013 HSA Employee Contribution Limits: Single $3,250; Family $6,450
  • 2014 HSA Contribution Limits: Single $3,300; Family $6,550
  • Higher deductible than traditional plans, but includes employee health savings account (H.S.A.) partially funded by the district. Employee can contribute additional amounts to their H.S.A. through pre-tax payroll deductions.
  • Triple tax saving advantage
  • Not necessary to select a primary care physician
  • Visit any Cigna Open Access Plus network provider-no referrals-a national network
  • No coverage outside the provider network other than emergency care

Cigna Open Access Plus (PPO model)  

  • Not necessary to select a primary care physician.
  • Visit any Cigna Open Access Plus network provider-no referrals.
  • Member has coverage beyond urgent/emergency care outside the Cigna Open Access Plus network and out of the service area at a higher deductible and coinsurance level.

Note: Both Cigna Plans use the Open Access Plus Provider Network, a national provider network.

Kaiser Permanente- a DHMO Plan 

  • Deductible & Coinsurance may apply
  • Hospitals for inpatient care include: St. Joseph Hospital - Denver; Children's Hospital - Aurora; and Exempla Good Samaratin Hospital - Lafayette, CO.
  • Medical care is provided through Kaiser facilities and providers. No coverage outside the service area other than urgent or emergency care.

Employees may select either employee only, employee/spouse, employee/child(ren), or family health insurance coverage. 

 

Dental Reimbursement Plans

Littleton Public Schools Dental Reimbursement Plan is a self-funded benefit plan that reimburses eligible employees and their eligible dependents for covered dental expenses. There are two options: 1) High Option with a $2,000 annual benefit which includes orthodontia; and 2) Low Option with a $1,000 annual benefit; the low option does NOT cover orthodontia. Healthsmart administers dental claims.

Voluntary Vision Service Plan (VSP)

The district does not contribute toward this coverage.  Employees may select from three levels of vision coverage: employee only, employee plus one, or family coverage.

Life Insurance

Life insurance coverage equal to two times eligible employee's annual salary to a maximum of $400,000.  Employees may elect to pay for dependent life insurance coverage in the amount of $10,000/spouse, $5,000/child.

Section 125 Plans

Employee insurance premiums, unreimbursed medical and dependent day care expenses may be paid on a pre-tax basis under one of several options: Premium Only Plan (POP); Health Flexible Spending Account (FSA); Limited Dental/Vision FSA; Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account; and/or Health Spending Account (H.S.A.).
