Two elected to LPS Board of Education
Unofficial election results show Nichols and Stanish to serve on the Littleton Public Schools Board of Education

The Arapahoe County Clerk and Recorder’s Office reported last night that Mary Nichols and Lucie Stanish received the most votes in this year’s Littleton Public Schools Board of Education election.

The county’s online unofficial results summary listed the vote as the following (as of 1:30 p.m.today):

Candidate              Vote Count            Percent
Mary Nichols        9,051                       30.56%
Rick Sutton           7,584                       25.60%
Pat Wojahn           5,081                       17.15%
Lucie Stanish        7,904                       26.68%

Total                       29,620                     100.00%

The four candidates were vying for two at-large open positions on the Littleton Public Schools Board of Education. Board Vice President John Dunn is finishing a four-year term on the Board and did not run for re-election. Board President Diana Holland is finishing her second four-year term on the Board and could not run again due to term limits.

According to the county, results are unofficial until the Board of Canvassers certifies the results, which will take place mid-November.

New Board members will officially take office during a special Board of Education meeting November 27, at which time they will take the oath of office.  The Board will also take action on its officers during this meeting.

The Littleton Public Schools community was once again very fortunate to have four outstanding candidates run for the Board of Education,” said LPS Superintendent Scott Murphy.  “We look forward to having Mary and Lucie on the Board, and we extend our heartfelt gratitude to all four candidates for taking an active interest in their public schools and for wanting to serve our community’s children in such an important way.”
